In this video, you will learn the basic steps to installing shingles.

There are several main components to a well-constructed roof. You will need drip edging, felt paper, and shingles. The drip edge is the first layer on the roof. It direct water off the roof and onto the ground without it running down the siding. This is important to keep your siding safe. With the drip edge, you will want the overhang to be about a half inch off of your roof. On the other hand, you don’t want your shingles or felt paper to hang off the roof at all. This means that you will need to cut these materials to the right size along the edges. A good way of doing this is measuring the distance for the final shingle and then marking it on the underside of the shingle to be placed. Then simply cut along this line.
