The first tip is to avoid throwing oils and fatty grease down the sink. These will coagulate and end up causing problems like slow drainage or full-blown clogs. Instead, allow cooking grease to harden in the pan, and then scrape it off with a utensil of some sort into the garbage. You can also pour it into a collection vessel while it’s still liquid.
The next tip is to help clear hair from drains. Humans lose some hair strands every day. If you live with a large family, that’s more than a little hair going down the shower drain every day. Over time, this will cause drainage issues and clogs. To remove the clog, you can purchase a specialized tool, or build a DIY one like in the video above.
